From Birds of a Feather by Jacqueline Winspear, p185:
"Of course his story is that he has several items that are not usually employed by archaeologists, but he uses them for the ooh-ahh effect from the audience of fearless travelers that accompany him. According to Fisher, poking around in a pile of old bones in the sand with the tip of a bayonet keeps the intrepid followers happy and gives them something to talk about at the dinner table when they get back to Britain."

Sounds a bit spooky. The tell me my teaser is scary too. http://bookbirddog.blogspot.com
I like this teaser. I've heard of the book before, but never picked it up. The teaser does make me interested though.

I really enjoyed the Maisie Dobbs series. Maybe they are a little slow in the buildup but overall, very good. Maybe it's the time frame too I like. Hope it gets better for you.
Have a great week and happy reading. My teaser is here
Isn't that the way with all of these shows on tv now? Everything must be exciting, even if it's not :) Great teaser.
Thanks for commenting, all! I'm settling into the book now. I think I'm just used to fast-paced, plot driven mysteries, and Winspear seems to take things much more slowly, and spend more time on her characters outside of the mystery. Must learn to sit back and relax a little!
I love, I love, I love this series. I like slow and quiet with many details. I love learning about post war life.
I'm intrigued.
I liked the teaser! I've never heard of this series before so I had to look up book nr. 1 at Amazon to find out some more :)
maybe you just need to read something else for a while. then go back to it.
Teaser is interesting though.
